Fe/male Switch is a women-first startup simulation game that lets aspiring entrepreneurs experience building a business from idea to first customer in a zero-risk, gamified environment. Designed for first-time founders who want to learn by doing, it combines interactive gameplay with practical entrepreneurship education to teach the skills needed to launch and grow a real company.
How It Works
The game guides players through the essential stages of building a startup. Beginning with a business idea, players make decisions across market validation, product development, customer acquisition, and fundraising. Each choice affects the virtual business outcome, providing realistic cause-and-effect feedback without exposing the player to real financial risk. The core journey takes players from concept to first paying customer, with milestones that include building a minimum viable product, running simulated marketing campaigns, managing limited resources, and pitching to virtual investors. Players must adapt their strategy as the simulated market responds to their decisions, creating an experience that mirrors the uncertainty and iteration of real entrepreneurship.
Key Features
- Risk-free simulation. Players can experiment with different business strategies, test assumptions, and learn from failures in a safe environment where no real money is at stake. This makes it possible to try bold approaches and understand their consequences without consequence.
- Structured progression. The game mirrors real startup processes with clear stages, from idea validation through customer acquisition, giving players a realistic sense of what it takes to build a company from scratch.
- Educational gameplay. Practical entrepreneurship concepts such as product-market fit, unit economics, customer personas, and go-to-market strategy are taught through hands-on decision-making rather than passive instruction or theory.
- Web-based access. Fe/male Switch runs in a web browser with no installation required, making it accessible on desktop and mobile devices.
Use Cases
- Aspiring women entrepreneurs can test their business ideas and build confidence before committing time and capital to a real venture. The simulation provides a sandbox to explore what building a company actually involves.
- First-time founders gain structured exposure to startup fundamentals in a low-pressure setting, helping them avoid common early-stage mistakes and build a foundation of practical knowledge.
- Entrepreneurship educators and programs can use the simulation as a teaching tool to complement traditional coursework with practical application, giving students a hands-on understanding of business dynamics.
Intended Audience
Fe/male Switch is built specifically for women who are curious about entrepreneurship but may not know where to start. It is especially suited for first-time founders, students exploring business, and professionals considering a career transition into startups. The simulation removes the intimidation of real-world risk while preserving the excitement and challenge of building something new. By focusing on the female founder experience, it creates a space where women can develop entrepreneurial skills and confidence on their own terms.
