Loom AI

Loom AI is a suite of artificial intelligence features built into the Loom video messaging platform, designed to eliminate the manual work of packaging and sharing video recordings. After being acquired by Atlassian in 2023, Loom has deepened its AI capabilities to help teams communicate asynchronously with less effort. The AI features are available on the Business + AI plan and Enterprise plan, with a 14-day free trial for new users.

How It Works

When a user records a video with Loom, the AI automatically processes the transcript to generate a title, a written summary, and timestamped chapters. It also removes filler words (such as "um" and "uh") and silences from the recording, producing a polished video without requiring manual editing. Users can record their screen, camera, or both, on desktop, mobile, or via the Chrome extension.

Key Capabilities

Loom AI includes several core features. Auto Titles generates a descriptive title for each video based on its content. Auto Summaries produces a paragraph-length text summary that viewers can read instead of watching the full video. Auto Chapters divides the video into navigable sections with timestamps. Filler Word Removal automatically cuts out verbal hesitations, while Silence Removal trims pauses for a tighter final video. AI Workflows can transform a video into a written document, a Jira or Linear issue, or a formatted email or chat message. For meetings recorded with Loom, the AI can generate meeting notes and automatic recap emails with action items.

Use Cases

Engineering teams use Loom AI to create bug reports by recording a quick walkthrough and auto-populating a Jira or Linear ticket with reproduction steps, device and browser information, console errors, and network activity. Product and design teams share async feedback on designs or code reviews, with the AI generating written documentation alongside the video. Sales teams personalize outreach with video messages that include auto-generated CTAs and summaries. Customer support teams troubleshoot issues over video, with transcripts and captions available in 50+ languages for global audiences.

Integrations

Loom integrates with Slack, Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, GitHub, Gmail, FigJam, Notion, Intercom, Zendesk, Salesforce, and more. Videos can be shared via link or embedded directly in these tools. The AI workflows feature has direct connections to Jira and Linear for automatic issue creation from video content.

Pricing

Loom AI is available on the Business + AI plan at $24 per user per month (billed annually) and the Enterprise plan (custom pricing). A free Starter plan is available with limited features. A 14-day free trial of the Business + AI plan is offered. Education discounts are also available through Atlassian's verified educator program.

Privacy and Security

Loom sends transcript data (text only, not video or audio) to OpenAI to generate AI titles and summaries. The company states it has executed Data Processing Agreements with its sub-processors. Enterprise users get additional security features including SSO, SAML, SCIM provisioning, custom data retention policies, and activity logging. All plans include video privacy controls, with password protection and default privacy settings available on paid plans.

Language Support

Loom AI auto-enhancement features (titles, summaries, chapters) work in 50+ languages, matching the language used in the recording. AI workflows that generate documentation currently support English only, with additional languages planned for future releases.
