Overview
Video Notes TLDR is an AI-powered web application that generates detailed notes, key points with timestamps, and structured summaries from YouTube videos. The tool is designed for students, researchers, content creators, and professionals who need to quickly extract and organize information from video content without watching the full duration.
How It Works
Users start by copying and pasting a YouTube video URL into the application. The AI analyzes the video content, extracting the most important information and organizing it into a comprehensive summary with key points mapped to specific timestamps. This enables users to quickly navigate to specific moments for fact-checking or deeper review. After generating notes, users can add tags to categorize them by topic, project, or workflow. Notes can be exported directly to Notion for integration with existing knowledge management systems or kept within the application for easy reference.
Key Capabilities
- AI-powered video analysis that generates complete summaries from YouTube content, saving significant time compared to watching full videos.
- Key point extraction with timestamps that link back to the original video, enabling precise navigation and reference.
- Unlimited tagging system for organizing and categorizing notes by any topic, subject, or project structure.
- Notion export for seamless transfer of generated notes into broader documentation and knowledge management workflows.
- Credit-based processing where each credit equals one minute of video, providing predictable usage tracking.
Authentication and Security
Registration uses Google or Notion social login, eliminating separate password management. The service collects only essential personal information such as name and email. Non-personal analytics data is gathered for performance monitoring. Users can request complete data deletion at any time by contacting the team. Payment processing is handled by Lemon Squeezy. The service is governed by the laws of Chile, where the developer is based.
Pricing Model
The application operates on a prepaid credit system where one credit processes one minute of video. Three packages are available: Starter Pack with 1,000 credits (approximately 16 hours) for $10, Explorer Pack with 3,000 credits (approximately 50 hours) for $27, and Power Pack with 6,000 credits (approximately 100 hours) for $48. Purchased credits do not expire, and users retain access to their generated notes even after consuming all credits, though new video processing requires additional credit purchases.
Service Status
Video Notes TLDR is scheduled to shut down on July 1, 2026. New registrations are currently closed. Existing users can still sign in to export their notes and data before the service concludes. The application was featured on Product Hunt and received positive attention from the productivity and edtech communities.
