Mem is an AI-powered knowledge management platform that acts as an AI Thought Partner — capturing ideas, meetings, and research, then surfacing them at the right moment. It reinvents note-taking by eliminating manual organization: users can talk, type, clip from the web, or forward emails, and Mem automatically structures, connects, and makes everything searchable.

How It Works

Mem replaces traditional folder-based note apps with an AI-first approach. Notes are stored in a flexible graph where each note can belong to multiple collections simultaneously — similar to tags but more structured. The platform continuously indexes content so users can retrieve information through natural language search (Deep Search) or conversational queries via Mem Chat, without needing to remember exact file names or folder locations.

Key Capabilities

Voice Mode. Available on Mac, Windows, and iOS, Voice Mode transcribes brain dumps, meetings, and interviews into structured notes with audio recordings attached. On desktop apps, it captures both microphone and system audio — making it suitable for transcribing Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams calls with automatic speaker separation.

Mem Chat. A conversational AI interface that lets users ask questions, summarize notes, draft content, or reorganize collections using natural language. Pro users can select their preferred large language model. Chat supports context from specific notes or collections via @mentions and #tags.

Deep Search. Semantic search that finds information even when users don't remember exact keywords. Works across all notes and supports filtering. Toggle between AI-powered semantic matching and exact keyword search.

Heads Up. A real-time context panel that automatically surfaces related notes while users work — showing meeting timelines, related topic bundles, and related collections without manual tagging.

Clean Up. AI-powered note polishing that fixes grammar, spelling, capitalization, and formatting. Users review suggested changes before accepting, and can refine further with custom instructions.

Chrome Extension. An intelligent web clipper that saves full pages, text excerpts, or YouTube videos. Supports AI summarization, automatic collection assignment, and keyboard shortcuts (CTRL+M).

API and MCP Support. Mem offers a REST API for custom integrations and supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini to connect directly to Mem workspaces.

Zapier Integration. Connects to 8,000+ apps for workflows such as archiving meeting transcripts from Fireflies or Otter, capturing Slack messages, syncing Google Drive docs, and logging completed tasks from Todoist or Asana.

Collaboration

Users can share individual notes or create Shared Collections where teams collaborate in real time. Shared Collections automatically grant access to all notes added to them. A Teams plan is available for unified billing and administration.

Platform and Offline Support

Mem is available on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Web. It supports offline mode — edits and new notes are saved locally and sync to the cloud when connectivity is restored. Android is not currently supported.

Integrations

Beyond Zapier and the REST API, Mem supports email-based capture (forward to [email protected]), direct Markdown imports, and native Share to Mem on iOS. The Chrome Extension provides browser-based clipping with AI summarization.

Privacy and Security

Notes are private by default. Mem states they do not sell user data. Clean Up and other AI features process content securely. Deleted notes are preserved in Trash for 30 days before permanent removal. Version History automatically saves all changes, allowing users to view, compare, and restore previous versions.

Pricing

Mem operates on a freemium model. A free tier provides core functionality including Clean Up. The Pro plan adds Dark Mode, model selection in Chat, and higher usage limits. A Teams plan is available for organizations needing unified billing and administration.
